Farm Boy running

Dom, 07/11/2021 - 14:36
Just thought I would post a link to this short video of my Farm Boy I have been building it over the last year of and on and ran it for the first time the other day. I should say I have little experience of internal combustion, all my projects so far have been external combustion.

I would welcome comments and suggestions from all you knowledgable people. It is suggested in the building notes that acetone is a good fuel for this engine. This is what I...

Model Engine Ignitions

Dom, 07/11/2021 - 10:05
Well I'm slowly finding time to make some model engine ignitions and for my race car. I am developing several different types of ignitions I am hoping to sell here, my web page, and on other sites. Once I have the designs ironed out I'll get a vendor membership for here and sell them. But in the mean time I would like some feedback on the designs. Can't promise to incorporate them but I'll try. So follow along and see what happens, R&D research and destruction.

I'll be offering the...

Sad news about John Moore aka Bogstandard aka Blogwitch

Sáb, 07/10/2021 - 21:52
Knowing how John made such a large impression on so many here and elsewhere in our hobby, I felt it necessary to post this here since I did not find it mentioned anywhere in this forum.

RIP Bogs, you are, and will continue to be sorely missed. You left behind a great legacy for so many.

(CAD) 28 Cyl P&W R-4360

Sáb, 07/10/2021 - 20:21
Well, I promised (threatened?) that I would start a WIP for my probably long-running design process for a scale Pratt & Whitney R-4360.

For anyone curious, the R-4360 is considered the largest piston engine to ever go into production for airplanes. It was used on a variety of aircraft at and after the end of World War II, and while thousands were manufactured, most were scrapped when the military no longer needed them due to the introduction of the jet age. Few remain, and fewer still are...

Warco ZX 15 milling machine manual

Sáb, 07/10/2021 - 10:34
Hi all

I have just acquired a used Warco ZX 15 Mill Drill (being delivered Monday) I bought it sight unseen apart from a few pics but it appears to be in super condition almost mint and the seller has given me a little history on it.

It comes almost fully tooled. Vice, Complete collet chuck set, Rotary table with division plates, Clamping kit, Slitting saws and arbour, Wavy and straight parallels, Fly cutter, End mills, V Blocks and a few other bits and pieces

I paid £650 for it and I...

Looking to buy plans for Bob Shore's Silver Eagle

Sáb, 07/10/2021 - 05:54
Like the title says, I am seeking plans for Bob Shores's Silver Eagle engine. I have tried contacting the company that bought the rights and patterns to those kits, but after several attempts I haven't received a reply. I don't know if they are still in business or not. If you have plans or know of a source, I am willing to pay to obtain them. My grandson was gifted a casting kit with no plans and I sure would like to get him in the shop turning dials. Thanks

I was presented with an (engine?) for my birthday. It is proof that a pound of JB Weld and a can of silver spray paint can fix anything. It’s pretty hysterical, however I do feel obligated to make it run even though it would be easier to build one from scratch. When I get a few minutes I actually work on it. I have the cylinder in a working condition. It was supposedly a great grandfather garage project from the 1940’s.

Decals/Logo

Vie, 07/09/2021 - 23:37
Is there any software which would allow making decals or logos which could re scale and print existing images as a decal? I am presently making a 1/8 scale oil pull Rumely and I can find images of the logo but they are all way too big and I do not know of any way to make something which could be placed on the engine. Lacking that is there any commercial outlets which do that type of thing? I can find a source for a 6" decal but that is way too big to put on a 2" surface.

Wanted: Quorn castings, partially completed or ????

Vie, 07/09/2021 - 21:54
I don't know why, but I kind of have a hankering for a Quorn project. These seem to be a "love 'em or hate 'em" type of grinder, but I think it looks interesting. Therefore, if you are in the latter category, or if you have one that you have never started (or partially started) and you suddenly want to reclaim the room, please let me know. This is a good way to fill up my shop (more) and empty yours out! . I'm even interested in a finished unit. I guess it all depends on what you...

Mostly finished model gas engine for sale.

Vie, 07/09/2021 - 18:34
I'm never going to get to finishing this, and I'm not good enough at pulling levers on my mill & lathe to do it justice anyway. I bought this from an antique engine FB page around 3 years ago. I was told it came from the estate of a model engine machinist, but I don't know that person's name, and I forget who I bought it from. The work that's done is beautiful. It looks to me like it needs rockers, push rod, carburetor, and tapping for a spark plug. I've never had it apart. It looks like he...
